Conservation group faults EPA plan to kill prairie dogs, fearing ferrets are at risk (The Kansas City Star)
WASHINGTON | A Kansas conservation group is suing the Environmental Protection Agency over a plan to kill prairie dogs by using pesticides that also are dangerous to other wildlife. Audubon of Kansas, along with Defenders of Wildlife, alleges that the EPA ignored the concerns of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service about the use of the pesticides.

Eastern Colorado clear of black footed ferrets (The Lamar Ledger)
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Colorado Department of Wildlife reversed a policy this past week that had made it illegal to disturb or remove common black-tailed prairie dogs from lands in Eastern Colorado, due to a perceived presence of endangered black-footed ferrets in the region.

Wyoming official sees no need to protect ferret (Billings Gazette)
CHEYENNE - A petition to list black-footed ferret populations in three states as endangered is frivolous and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service should ignore it, a Wyoming Game and Fish Department official said Friday.
